A large live mural connected the experience with an artist from Queens.<\/p>\n<h2>Let the stories surround the photographs<\/h2>\n<p>Guests entered a subway-car installation to watch a documentary, then explored behind-the-scenes photographs with interviews and stories they could listen to.<\/p>\n<h2>Turn the lyrics into an archive<\/h2>\n<p>A central installation assembled everyday objects named in Illmatic: E&amp;J bottles, Timberland boots, Sony Walkmans and Ron G mixtapes. These familiar things gave fans a physical connection to the album and its era. For Nas, seeing them together became a walk through the memories behind the lyrics.<\/p>\n<h2>The planning lesson<\/h2>\n<p>Look for details fans already hold close: a place, an object or a line. Those references can organize a room more meaningfully than oversized artwork alone. Give each installation its own mode of discovery while keeping the album&#x27;s story continuous.<\/p>\n<h2>Who delivered the experience<\/h2>\n<p>POPUP created immersive installations that translated the album\u2019s world into a walk-through experience: a childhood basketball court, participatory graffiti alleys, a live mural by a Queens-based artist, a subway-car documentary setting and an audio-led behind-the-scenes photo gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Presented with Sony Music \/ Certified Classics.
