FutureHive on Fairfax: art and objects inside artist retail

Visitors inside the FutureHive Fairfax boutique · September 2016.

Future Fairfax, Los Angeles

A fan community, expressed as a boutique.

FutureHive translated Future’s visual world into a Fairfax boutique, combining merchandise, objects and art with a place for fans to gather. The Pop Up Team’s earlier work through Fancy.com, before POPUP.

The opportunity

The brief.

Give a music audience a physical setting for discovering the artist’s wider world, with the clarity of a shop and the atmosphere of a shared occasion.

POPUP’s role

The work behind the experience.

This Los Angeles FutureHive edition belongs to the team’s earlier artist-retail work through Fancy.com. It is presented separately from the New York boutique and the later Nobody Safe tour shop.

Create a clear route into the collection.

A long central counter anchored the white interior, with apparel around the perimeter and room to move between displays. The collection could be explored as a connected retail offer.

Extend the identity beyond apparel.

Artwork and objects added another layer to the boutique. The window display connected the artist’s visual world with the street, while smaller product details rewarded time inside.
