Project location: New York, NY · Los Angeles, CA · Project context: 2018 · Prepared by POPUP from the project archive in October 2026.
FIENDSHOP gave Bas's Milky Way release a physical home on both coasts. Merchandise, in-store performances and meet-and-greets made the pop-ups shared encounters around the music.
How can artist retail make space for performance and community?
The strongest artist stores give fans a reason to stay, participate and meet one another.
Give the fan community a physical place to experience the release together on both coasts.

Make room for the artist encounter
Merchandise sat alongside performances and meet-and-greets, bringing the FIEND community into a shared physical setting in New York and Los Angeles.
The planning lesson
Define how retail service continues around the live program. Guests may come to browse, meet the artist or hear a performance. A clear schedule and considered floor plan help those reasons for visiting support one another.
Who delivered the experience
Working with Interscope Records, POPUP delivered the New York and Los Angeles pop-ups. Retail, live performances and artist encounters gave fans more than a transaction: a shared moment around the music.
