Not every fan leaves a game celebrating. Kraft Mac & Cheese gave tournament disappointment a warmer turn, bringing comfort food into the Final Four setting through a mobile brand experience.
How can food sampling respond to the mood of an occasion?
A tough loss gives comfort food a very immediate meaning. Basketbawl used that familiar feeling to create a timely encounter between Kraft and fans, with the product itself carrying the campaign’s empathy and humor.
Turn Kraft’s familiar smile into a frown, then take it to the street. The blue truck made the campaign visible; the special-edition boxes put the idea in people’s hands. Personal fan encounters supplied the human story for the campaign film.

Put comfort in the path of the crowd
A blue truck brought the campaign onto the streets of New Orleans. Its large macaroni graphic gave people a recognizable point of encounter, while vehicle logistics and permitting put the activation in place for game night.
Make the takeaway carry the idea
The Basketbawl edition turned the brand’s familiar packaging into a sympathetic gesture, with a frowning macaroni on the box. POPUP coordinated the packaging preparation and product logistics that made those takeaways available on site.
Let the encounter stay personal
The interaction was simple: meet the fans, acknowledge the disappointment and offer a box of comfort. The team brought the campaign’s tone into individual conversations, giving the experience a human presence beyond the truck and its graphics.
Carry the night into the campaign
On-site capture connected the truck, the product and fans’ reactions in a short campaign film. The final delivered edit follows that same sequence, keeping the live encounter at the center of the story beyond New Orleans.
The planning lesson
Find the emotion your product can credibly answer. Then design service around the moment people encounter it. A clear offer, recognizable vehicle and prepared team let a campaign idea become an easy, immediate interaction with the food.
Who delivered the experience
POPUP translated the campaign into a live activation through the wrapped vehicle, permitting, packaging preparation, logistics, on-site staffing and content production.
