Project location: Boyle Heights, Los Angeles · Project context: September 2026 · Prepared by POPUP from the project archive in October 2026.
Mexico Transferred began in a familiar storefront and opened into Guadalajara's sights, sounds and scents. The Boyle Heights experience made connection tangible through a carefully staged transition between environments.
How can scenic production connect a campaign with a feeling of home?
Connection is more than a service. Familiar places, sounds and everyday rituals can carry the feeling of home across a border.
Begin with a familiar money-transfer setting, then reveal a sensory journey to Guadalajara. The physical transition makes the campaign’s promise something visitors can experience.

Make the invitation visible from the street
The completed storefront put Mexico Transferred in the heart of the neighborhood. A familiar exterior made the invitation clear before visitors stepped inside.
Start somewhere familiar
The front room used the visual language of a neighborhood money-transfer office: branded posters, a counter and everyday details. That recognizable setting created the threshold for the experience beyond it.
Step into the feeling of home
Beyond the front room, large-scale imagery, location sound and scent brought the campaign’s Guadalajara story into the space. The production connected playback, lighting, scenic details and visitor flow around a shared sensory experience.
Let visitors make the connection
Guests moved between the images, sounds and scent installations, taking in familiar details and talking about the places and memories they brought to mind.
The planning lesson
Map the sensory journey before specifying the technology. Playback, lighting, scenery and visitor flow should support the same transition. Clearly distinguish the production remit from campaign creative and source content supplied by the brand and agency teams.
