Project location: Roosevelt Field, Long Island, NY · Project context: 2019 · Prepared by POPUP from the project archive in October 2026.
Kamikoto's Roosevelt Field kiosk introduced an online knife brand at different viewing distances. Tall branded ends established its presence, while angled glass and focused lighting guided attention toward individual products.
How can a retail kiosk invite attention and reward a closer look?
For a considered purchase, the display is part of the introduction. An online brand entering a mall needs to establish its identity at a distance, then reward a closer look at the product.
Build a compact retail environment around the collection’s presentation. Pair warm wood and restrained branding with angled glass displays, individual lighting and product storytelling.

Invite discovery from the mall into the display
Tall branded ends and video screens established a recognizable presence from the mall floor. Between them, the wood-finished counters created a lower, more intimate display line for shoppers approaching the knives.
Give each product its own space
Angled glass, focused lighting and wooden presentation boxes directed attention toward individual knives. Product information sat within the display, allowing the collection to be explored piece by piece.
Resolve the whole retail footprint
The overhead view shows the relationship between display counters, customer approach and the staff area. The original recap follows the design visualization through to the completed kiosk, making the connection between concept and delivery visible.
The planning lesson
Design the approach and the close encounter separately. The mall shopper first needs to recognize a destination, then understand what makes the product worth considering. Staff space and display access should be resolved alongside the materials and lighting.
Who delivered the experience
POPUP connected the retail design and custom fabrication with venue negotiation, project management and staffing, bringing the kiosk from concept into the mall setting.
What the experience made possible
The kiosk translated Kamikoto’s visual identity into a considered setting where guests could encounter the collection in person.
