Project location: Fairfax, Los Angeles · Prepared by POPUP from the project archive in October 2026.
DFT's continuous linework went beyond the shoe at Shine Marketplace. The Way of Wade collaboration brought basketball, artwork and product together in a retail environment visitors could step inside.
How can collection artwork shape an immersive retail experience?
A collaboration has greater presence when its art shapes the setting around the product, not just the product itself.
Extend DFT’s continuous linework beyond the shoe, making the collection’s meeting of basketball and art tangible at room scale.

Take the artwork beyond the shoe
DFT’s continuous linework extended across the environment, surrounding a gold basketball hoop and illuminated signature. The installation made the collection’s relationship between basketball and art tangible at room scale.
Keep the collection at the center
Footwear, framed artwork and memorabilia shared the display. The setting connected the collaboration’s graphic language to the pieces visitors could discover, bringing the artist’s vision into the retail experience.
The planning lesson
Choose how the collection's graphic language changes at room scale. It should connect the environment to the product without obscuring the assortment. Keep artwork and creative collaboration credits visible when describing the finished setting.
Who delivered the experience
POPUP developed an immersive retail setting at Shine Marketplace, carrying the collection’s visual language into the physical shopping experience. Product, artwork and environment were considered together to bring the collaboration to life.
Hosted at Shine Marketplace. Collection artwork by DFT, with creative collaboration by Loooop Studio.
What the experience made possible
